This March, you are personally invited as St. Nicolas teams with St. James Church, Weddington to host an Alpha Course. Alpha is a fun and unimposing course designed to take the audience on an epic journey exploring the basics of the Christian faith over food and laughs. The material is suitable for anyone of any background and can be meaningful for people with no faith as well as Christians who want a refresher. It features video appearances from Bear Grylls and other famous Christians. Topics include ‘Why did Jesus die?’, ‘How does God guide us?’, ‘Does God heal today? ‘ and more.
More details are to follow but feel free to speak to Reverend Kelly Betteridge or Mark Seabourne for more details or to register interest. You can also e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org. In the meantime, the following two videos might answer ‘why try Alpha?’ –

Article obtained from the Diocese of Coventry website –
On Tuesday 18th October from 7.30 to 9.30pm there will be an opportunity for men from across the diocese to meet together at St Mary’s Church in Leamington Spa to hear from high altitude climber, Carlos Buhler.
The evening has been organised by the Archdeacon Missioner, Morris Rodham. Morris has a sabbatical early next year and is intending to spend some of that climbing in the Canadian Rockies with Carlos. Prior to his sabbatical, Morris has invited Carlos to the UK to do some presentations on his climbing exploits and raise funds for the Gorkha Foundation, who are currently constructing four schools damaged by the 2015 Nepal earthquake.
Carlos Buhler is a renowned climber. Among his achievements is putting the hardest ever route up Mount Everest which has never been repeated. He has also taken on numerous other first ascents, mostly in the Himalayas. He was voted as one of the 4 best high-altitude climbers in the world in 2002 by Everestnews.com. With such a prestigious climbing background, many stories of both successes and failures and also being a noted photographer with superb photographs of many of these expeditions, Carlos has been a keynote speaker at many international mountain festivals.
The Diocesan Men’s Night will be a purely social occasion. There are many curry houses near St Mary’s, Leamington that could be frequented after the talk. It is a good opportunity for church-going men to socialise with their male friends who are not church-goers.
Tickets are £5 (concessions £2) and can be purchased on the door. All proceeds will go to the Gorkha Foundation.
For more information contact Morris Rodham on firstname.lastname@example.org
